Should we paint the nursery pink or blue?

Whats up peeps..

This is Matt... yes daddy is finally making a post. I have somehow managed to shirk my responsibilities to the blog for some time now. Not that I didn't want to comment mind you, I just am usually a to the point kind of guy and I never thought of myself as much of a writer, this is where you notice the huge run-on sentence... [period]

I was encourged by my lovely wife to write, however her encourgement was of the mild variety. I actually am enjoying this. This has been quite the weekend for the Alexander Family, and I want to comment about it.

On Thursday, I met Sara at the Doctors office for "the" ultrasound. The one where you choose the color of the nursery. Well, we sat in the doctors office for a wait. I have a problem with sitting still.. always have. I just can't sit still for very long. I have to have something to occupy my thoughts. Especially when I am sitting waiting to find out the sex of my first born. So I look for some Magazines. OK OK big complaint here. I know we are in a OB/Gyn waiting room but the magazine selection is terrible...

--tv guide.. not just one but a whole stack of em..(which I knocked over twice by accident)
--womens health.. for obvious reasons
--housekeeping.. again girly mag
--one issue of Time- getting better but it was a really old issue??
--RV Magazine-- hotdog-- one mag I can look at-- cause I will have an RV oneday

Note to the OB office get some Man Mags.. like Road & Track, Popular Mechanics, something...
There was only one immaculate conception.. Most of the women who visit your office will bring in a man every now and then.

Ok OK.. I do ramble but we finally get back to the ultrasound room. The nurse kindly tells us that all of the babies she has seen so far have been too shy to tell... Ok thats encourging, I think. She starts to lube Sara's tummy. Sara is so excited.. as I am. She is almost already crying.. and if she crys that will get me too. She proceeds to show us our sleeping baby. Oh no.. Wake up baby! She starts to explain all the wierd shapes on the screen.. very hard to read and understand... She exclaims she has great job security. She starts the evaluation. She measures all the parts.. like the head legs back.. etc... Everything measures up so we are very relieved. It is such a blessing to know that from what we know now that we have a healthy baby. We have specifically prayed for this on a regular basis and we thank God for hearing those prayers.

After she, got the measurements she needed she started bouncing on Sara's tummy with the ultrasound.. she was digging in deep too. I know this must have hurt Sara, but she didn't let on at all. She was just so excited I guess. Finally I noticed some movement our baby's head moved on the screen. That rocked me pretty good. To see it for myself was great. Then she exclaimed " There it is "... I fired back "There what is?" She told us that we would be having a boy! Yep, I am the proud father of a baby boy. I am very excited. Sara and I are very excited. Now it is so much more real to me know because we know more about our baby. For instance he likes to suck his thumb.. we saw him do it! That is incredible to me. I do want a little girl one day to but I am so happy that she will have an older brother to help dad watchout for her.

We are so very happy and thank all of you who read our blog and pray for us. We definatly feel it and appreciate it. Now we know what to paint our nursery somewhat. Sara makes the final call on that one. And, you might be wondering will I be making more appearances on the blog.. well just maybe ;)

Proud daddy,
matthew

Baby steps

Guess what? I'm taking steps today to get just a little closer to my dream. We're off to the gym in a little bit to keep working towards losing those 38 pounds. I'm also working on a plan to sell specialty homemade cheesecakes during the holidays. Doing something I love and making some extra money for the people I love. Pretty great stuff!

Special K

I have developed a rather fond relationship with Kellogg's Special K Vanilla Almond. Low in fat (only 1.5 g) and made with whole grains, I eat this tasty treat as a meal and a snack. I'm eating some right now. Special thanks to Kat for introducing me to this delightful cereal. Our local Ingles has been running it on sale this past week, 2 for $4, so I stocked up. The milk is even on sale too, 2 for $5, making this treat yummy and affordable. Sweet, crispy flakes and crunchy almonds. What more could a girl ask for. By the way, you should go to Ingles. Everything is on sale. I picked up some lean ground beef today for $1.38 per pound. Now that's good for the budget. Low prices + good food = happy housewife

Let's go shopping at Aldi's!

If you're shopping at Aldi's this week, I recommend that you stock up on Eggs and Milk! Seriously, a dozen eggs for $1.09 and Milk for $2.19! The price of beef may have gone up, but I'm loving the other staples we get from a cow! I bought 4 dozen eggs this week. Overkill for sure, but when our family eats eggs, we usually eat 7 in one setting! Eggs and toast are a staple breakfast in our house - we eat that at least 4 times a week! It's fast and filling and cheap! If you're looking for something more exciting to do with your eggs, try making a breakfast casserole! I love this casserole from Ree, the Pioneer Woman. Everything she makes is delightful, but this recipe is especially great! As with most recipes, I tweaked it a bit to fit our tastes. For all of his perfect aspects, my handsome husband does not eat mushrooms. This could have been a deal breaker for me 13 years ago, but then I saw his drummer toned legs and I decided to look past his misjudgment! No ...
