Our little man

Lucas and I have been taking lots of walks this week. Our gym membership has lapsed temporarily, so we've been getting out in the stroller each morning for some cardio. Plus the weather has been great. On our walk today, Lucas was desperate to touch every animal we saw. Bird, cat, dog, it didn't matter; Lucas had both arms stretched straight out, begging them to come to him. "Kiii Kiii" or "Doh Doh" or "Bir Bir" was said over and over again. Thankfully, we did come across a dog named Ossie that allowed Lucas to pet him. I have to say I love how much Lucas loves animals. His excitement is not limited to animals however, but pours out onto everything including planes "pay" and balls "bas" and cars "kar". We blame the plane obsession (and it is an obsession) on our trip through Atlanta last weekend. The planes overhead were a great distraction. I've been tapping into Lucas's love of helping me a lot lately. I ask ...

Mother's Day

What a wonderful Mother's day! We had the best time yesterday at church and then at the Alexander's house for Lunch. Lucas was absolutely adorable in his plaid green shirt! At church he made me an adorable handprint that I will always treasure! Matt surprised me with flowers, a beautiful card, massage oil, and the promise of a "day off"! Wow! Talk about making me feel special! Here is a picture of Matt with his Mom and brother, Andy. Nana and Steve. I am so thankful that Matt's grandmother, Nana, lives close by! She has such a sweet spirit and a wealth of wonderful memories that she is eager to share. (Thanks Kat, for the outfit! Ha) Mother's Day meant so much to me this year. The week leading up to it, I felt like I was waiting for Christmas! I feel so thankful to be Lucas's Mommy! I've learned so much about myself, about life, in this new role.

Lucas age 20 months

Lucas turned 20 months just a few days ago. Can you believe it? Our baby is gone and has been replaced with an energetic, curious, and talkative little boy. Lucas now identifies family members in pictures, he recognizes animals in books, and loves playing with cars. His new favorite activities include coloring with crayons and playing in the backyard. Lucas's Mimi found some wonderful outdoor toys at yard sells recently, so we've been spending lots of time outside! He has a new slide, a playhouse and a Little Tykes picnic table. I love this season of Lucas's life. It really is true that you don't have time to be sad that you're baby is growing up because you're too busy enjoying the new things he's doing! New Words: "Bee" , "Gar-ner" (Gardner), "Croo" (color), "Pi" (pig), "Basc" (paci).... I'll post more pictures soon. We've had a busy spring.
