Lucas saves his best smiles for his Daddy! (Check out his teeth!) 7.22.06

Trying to become baby wise....

Our little scraggle toothed boy is growing so quickly. His face is even changing. Now that Lucas can pull up and crawl efficiently, he is everwhere. I am constantly watching my steps just to make sure there aren't any fingers or toes underfoot opening cabinets or playing with the doorstops. The world is wide open for Lucas, and we are doing everything we can to give him the boundaries he needs to adjust to this new found freedom. Thanks to Becky , I am currently reading "Baby Wise 2" (Parenting your Pretoddler Five to Fifteen Months). I couldn't put the book down last night. This morning I woke up armed with a new sense of purpose regarding parenting. Matt and I closely followed the original "Baby Wise", proclaiming its greatness when Lucas started sleeping through the night at 4 weeks. I can fondly remember the two of us hiding in the bathroom at the hospital, during the middle of the night, searching through the pages, desperate to figure out how to handl...

Up, up, up

Another first! Lucas pulled himself up with the edge of the couch to standing! Twice! It's no coincedence that Andrew happened to be standing beside Lucas. They really do feed off each other. Way to go, big boy!

Leggo my Eggo

I think it's (finally) time to move our big boy to table food! This morning, after rejecting his oatmeal and applesauce, I decided to let Lucas try a waffle! And he ate almost half of it! Way to go! I guess he has learned how to use his 2 1/2 teeth!

I just wanted to say Happy Anniversary to my precious husband, Matt. I love you Honey. Thank you for three amazing years. You are my everything.

10 months

So, I guess I have a little catching up to do. Now that Lucas is 10 months old, I am reminded of how quickly he is growing up. Friday night, the three of us went to Joe Muggs for a Frappe and our weekly magazine reading, and Lucas caught the attention of a nearby mom who was holding her 1 month old. As they waved to each other (Lucas and the Mom), I was flooded with memories of my newborn baby. Just to prove how "big" he is getting, here's the latest info on Lucas. A third tooth arrived this week, proudly displaying itself with little fuss (thank goodness). I can't remember the exact name of this particular tooth, but it is located to the right of the top middle teeth. We are (not so eagerly) awaiting three more teeth that are barely hiding behind the gums. I say not so eagerly, simply because teething is rather painful, but I am looking forward to Lucas being able to eat more table food. He is still eating Gerber stage 2 and 3 fruits and veggies, along with crackers ...

Happy 4th

So Lucas is getting a workout right now pushing a box of graham crackers around the kitchen floor. I love the way the littlest things can entertain him. Who needs toys when you have a house full of cabinets and drawers to explore? Lucas and I went down to see his Grandma for the 4th of July. We went to a cookout with the extended family and had a blast. It just amazes me how much things have changed. I remember being the youngest cousin, always wishing I could sit at the "big people" table. Now I'm trying to corral my baby while he plays with his first and second cousins. There are 10 total with 2 more due this year! It was so chaotic and loud! The way I think family should be! :) I'm happy to be home, though. I do not enjoy those long rides through Atlanta or nursing in McDonald's parking lot. My Sweetie will be home soon, so I need to get dinner started.
Lucas always has fun with his Mimi and Poppy!

Oh What Fun!

Yesterday was just a great day overall. Lucas woke up smiling, something we haven't seen him do in a while, and eager to start his day. So, I slathered him with sunscreen, put on his 'big boy' swimming trunks, and headed to the pool! He had the best time splashing in the water and riding in his float. He even took a face plant in to the water and didn't cry! What a tough boy! It was his first time in a swimming pool; I tried to prepare him by telling him that the pool was just a gigantic bathtub, but his little eyes still filled up with wonder when he saw the glistening water. We played for about an hour and then crashed hard during naptime. Later in the day, we packed up the stroller, blanket, and toys and headed to the Anderson Civic Center for an outdoor benefit concert by our favorite band, the NewSpring Band . Lucas played and clapped and waved and sqealed. He especially enjoyed dancing with his Daddy. The night ended with an incredible fireworks show, which we ...
