Ice, Scrabble, and Japanese Shrimp

Well, we survived the winter storm. Matt and I enjoyed the chance to spend a Saturday together, a rare occurance indeed. We spent most of Saturday in the house using our fireplace for the first time and lounging around. We did venture out in the snow, once to Bi-Lo and then to hang out with friends. Ken, Meg, and Gardner live just a couple streets over. They have become very dear friends of ours and we always enjoy hanging out with them. Matt won the Scrabble game with a clever use of "it" and "trig" on a triple word square. I think my favorite part was watching Gardner play. What a great laugh! Matt and I both have loved watching him grow and change over the past 4 months. Being around Gardner makes us even more anxious and ready for our little one to arrive! I know that our house isn't ready and we haven't bought the first baby item, but to be able to hold our baby right now would just be the greatest thing! Tonight we decided to sucumb to ...

The Belly

Yesterday, Matt and I decided to drive around Anderson looking for Maternity Consignment stores. In particular, we were looking for cribs because after seeing the cost of new ones at Baby's R Us, we decided that "gently used" might be the way to go. Well, we didn't find any cribs, but we did find (and yes, I even tried on) The Belly. Have you seen this thing? It is made of foam and shaped to velcro on to your waist making you look 9 months pregnant. Boy was that a reality check! I actually felt nervous walking out of the dressing room to show my precious hubby. And his facial expression was priceless. I even made him hug me just to see what it felt like! Don't get me wrong, I'm actually looking forward to having my own "belly". It will just be an adjustment. It's an awesome feeling to know that there is a little person growing inside of me. Totally worth the extra pounds. :)

The Big News

Okay, Okay... I know most of you already have heard the news, but we are finally making the announcement official. WE'RE HAVING A BABY!!!!!! Our suspicions were confirmed with 5 positive pregnancy tests and an ultrasound to view our "little peanut". Matt claims that he knew long before any confirmation could be made, based upon the absence of mood swings and lots of fatigue. As of today, I am 9 weeks and 6 days pregnant. The past 10 weeks can be summed up with nausea, fatigue, a very sensitive nose, and strange food aversions. And of course with lots of tears of joy. As most of you know, this child is a miracle. A complete and total gift from our precious Lord. Wow. We can't even begin to tell you how excited and overwhelmed that God has chosen to bless us now with a child. It was almost a year ago today that I had my first surgery diagnosing me with Endometriosis. We were crushed when our doctor, Tim Duniho, told us that the disease was too widespread to...
