Isn't it funny how being away from home makes you appreciate home so much more? My goodness, I was glad to head back to the Upstate after our soggy week at the beach.
But now that we're back, I've been catching up on laundry and cleaning the floors. And I've been doing some thinking. We've lived in our new house for almost 10 months now and I'm still struggling to make it feel like "home". I seem to have commitment issues because I haven't hung anything on the walls yet. We moved into our home in such a whirlwind and all of a sudden I was wading through deep waters of a new baby, new house and a temperamental 3 year old. But I'm kind of getting tired of that excuse. I'm over it.
It's time to decorate. I have no budget (meaning no money) and lots of ideas swirling around in my head. First, I need to get my sewing machine fixed. I am determined to learn to sew this year, so I can make window treatments and pillows. Our den has been beige for too long! Second, it's time to finally, finally put pictures on the wall. So what if the frames don't match - what's important is that we are surrounded with the memories of special times in our lives. I have such a hard time deciding which pictures to frame - we have so many good ones - but it's time to get over my commitment-phobia and just do it!
Wow, I didn't think this post was going to turn into a pep talk!
So you can be my cheerleaders and accountability partners! As I start and actually complete a project (I really suck at following through), I will post pictures so you can watch our home transform.
Or you can just come to visit.
I'm okay with either!
