Okay, Okay... I know most of you already have heard the news, but we are finally making the announcement official. WE'RE HAVING A BABY!!!!!! Our suspicions were confirmed with 5 positive pregnancy tests and an ultrasound to view our "little peanut". Matt claims that he knew long before any confirmation could be made, based upon the absence of mood swings and lots of fatigue. As of today, I am 9 weeks and 6 days pregnant. The past 10 weeks can be summed up with nausea, fatigue, a very sensitive nose, and strange food aversions. And of course with lots of tears of joy. As most of you know, this child is a miracle. A complete and total gift from our precious Lord. Wow. We can't even begin to tell you how excited and overwhelmed that God has chosen to bless us now with a child.
It was almost a year ago today that I had my first surgery diagnosing me with Endometriosis. We were crushed when our doctor, Tim Duniho, told us that the disease was too widespread to remove surgically. And then the nightmare of being put on 6 months of Lupron therapy begin. I can only say that Matt was a total trooper as he put up with my rollar coaster moodswings and "weepy" state. We kept praying that God would heal my body so that we would be able to have children. My surgery in October brought the first answer to our prayers when Dr. Duniho found that the Lupron had worked and the adesions were gone. Dr. Duniho worked hard to repair the damage caused by all of the scar tissue which would be the last barrier we had to getting pregnant. He told us that we needed to start trying to get pregnant as soon as I recovered from the surgery. We basically were given a 6-9 month window of fertility before the disease began to reek more havoc. No one suspected that our miracle was about to unfold...........
And so begins the story of Baby Alexander. The estimated crown-to-rump length of our baby is 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 inches. The arms and legs are growing longer with the hands meeting over the heart area. Touch pads are forming on the fingers. Eyelids now cover the baby's eyes and will stay shut until week 27. And the most exciting part, the baby now moves it's body and limbs! Of course, these movements are much too light for me to feel, but it makes me happy just knowing the little guy (or girl) is wiggling around.
