What a nice Day

Isn't it so pretty outside! Lucas and I were out a while ago to run errands. A brief stop at the Anderson Library for me to pick up some new fiction, a drop off at the dry cleaners, and a shared doughnut at Dunkin Doughnuts. (I had a coupon). Matt is in Simpsonville doing some work and Lucas is currently sleeping, so I thought I would spend a moment with you sharing my random thoughts on this chilly day.

First, I have to recommend the cd which I am currently listening to. Bebo Norman has always been a favorite of mine. We even had one of his songs played in our wedding. Check out his newest cd, "Between the Dreaming and the Coming True."

My second recommendation of the day (I feel so opinionated) is C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Tint found at Bath and Body Works. I bought some last week, and I'm loving the taste, smell, and feel! It makes you want to kiss someone. Preferably your husband.... :)

And since I think you need to hear more about things I like (haha), here is a brief list of blogs that I am really enjoying right now. You should check them out!
1. Megret - a dear friend of mine, a fantastic mom, and creative writer
2. Something Beautiful - I've never met Amanda, but I really enjoy her. She's a mom of 3.
3. Amber - I met Amber once while her husband worked for Newspring. They live in Ohio now with a new baby boy.

Our mice are gone at last. We haven't heard or caught any in at least a week now. I'm too much of a girly-girl to be okay with critters sharing my living space. Gives me the creeps just thinking about it. I'm trying to teach Lucas about his body parts. He loves to put both hands on his head and stick his fingers in his ears. He'll get it eventually. :) His language is slowly, but steadily developing. "Shoe" and "Please" are the newest words we've heard come out of his little mouth.
Matt has gotten back to playing raquetball. He competed in a tournament at our local YMCA last weekend. I was so proud of him. We are lucky to have a scholarship to the Y, so Matt and I work out there quite a bit. Speaking of sweating and hardwork, I've renewed my commitment to get in shape and lose the last 15 pounds I've been playing around with. I'm stepping up my workout routine and cutting back on portions. This morning, as an effort to stay motivated, I placed a post-it note on my valentine box of chocolates which reads "it isn't worth it - I promise". I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Well, I've procrastinated long enough. The dishes and laundry can wait no longer.

Hey Sara,

The updated blog looks really good :) I haven't commented in a while and I feel like a bit of a creepy internet lurker, so I thought I'd say hi :) (Honestly, if it weirds you out that some stranger from Canada reads your blog, please let me know and I promise to stop!)

I'm not sure how old you are, but I turn 23 on Sunday, and while I don't have plans to get married and start a family just yet (I'd need a guy for that! haha) as I want to travel and finish school first, my maternal instinct appears to be kicking in and I think that your loving stories of Lucas may have influenced that a little. I think I first randomly discovered your blog close to a year ago and I've really enjoyed reading stories of a little boy and his family down in the South and hearing about his progression through his first year of life. It's quite inspiring, really.

Hope all is well (sounds like it is),

Rachel

I love the updates, Sara!! It looks great! Yeah, Valentine's candy can be a real downfall..actually all the holidays' candy can be! It's a mean trick! I miss being younger when it didn't matter as much. But being older has its perks, too! :-) Can't wait to see you this weekend!! Love you!!!

Baby steps

Guess what? I'm taking steps today to get just a little closer to my dream. We're off to the gym in a little bit to keep working towards losing those 38 pounds. I'm also working on a plan to sell specialty homemade cheesecakes during the holidays. Doing something I love and making some extra money for the people I love. Pretty great stuff!

Special K

I have developed a rather fond relationship with Kellogg's Special K Vanilla Almond. Low in fat (only 1.5 g) and made with whole grains, I eat this tasty treat as a meal and a snack. I'm eating some right now. Special thanks to Kat for introducing me to this delightful cereal. Our local Ingles has been running it on sale this past week, 2 for $4, so I stocked up. The milk is even on sale too, 2 for $5, making this treat yummy and affordable. Sweet, crispy flakes and crunchy almonds. What more could a girl ask for. By the way, you should go to Ingles. Everything is on sale. I picked up some lean ground beef today for $1.38 per pound. Now that's good for the budget. Low prices + good food = happy housewife

Let's go shopping at Aldi's!

If you're shopping at Aldi's this week, I recommend that you stock up on Eggs and Milk! Seriously, a dozen eggs for $1.09 and Milk for $2.19! The price of beef may have gone up, but I'm loving the other staples we get from a cow! I bought 4 dozen eggs this week. Overkill for sure, but when our family eats eggs, we usually eat 7 in one setting! Eggs and toast are a staple breakfast in our house - we eat that at least 4 times a week! It's fast and filling and cheap! If you're looking for something more exciting to do with your eggs, try making a breakfast casserole! I love this casserole from Ree, the Pioneer Woman. Everything she makes is delightful, but this recipe is especially great! As with most recipes, I tweaked it a bit to fit our tastes. For all of his perfect aspects, my handsome husband does not eat mushrooms. This could have been a deal breaker for me 13 years ago, but then I saw his drummer toned legs and I decided to look past his misjudgment! No ...
