This past Thursday Matt and I went to Anderson GYN-OB to see Dr. Duniho for our 30 week check up. We were the last patient to be seen; apparently Dr. Duniho had to make a run to the new hospital during his busy day setting his schedule behind. After a long wait we finally got to see the doctor. A quick measurement of my growing belly found that the baby appears to be growing right on target. His heartbeat continues to beat strong and fast. We asked Tim to give us a guess on how the baby was laying. I had been feeling the hiccups rather low in my abdomin and had wondered if the little guy was already in position. No, I was wrong. (You can tell this is my first baby.) His head could be felt a couple inches to the right side of my belly button with his feet down low. Apparently those steady beats weren't hiccups. Maybe our baby has really good rhythm. I hope he takes after his Daddy and not me!
On to the news. I gained 5 pounds (gulp), but I am right on target with a current weight gain of 25 pounds (double gulp). My blood pressure continues to be perfect which is a relief considering the amount of swelling I'm experiencing. Dr. Duniho was somewhat concerned that I have been swelling so much rather early, but with my blood pressure steadily remaining around 108/60, he feels that my chances of developing pre-ecclampsia are slim. He also reassured me twice that I am not exhibiting any signs of having this baby early. Yes, I am experiencing lots of Braxton-Hicks contrations, but I show no symptoms of early labor. I had become somewhat concerned after several people told me that the baby appeared to have "dropped". I guess my ever expanding belly was simply playing tricks on them.
We have 9 weeks left to go! I'm thrilled, nervous, anxious, and wildly excited! Matt and I stayed up late last night imagining out loud the moments in the delievery room when we get to meet our son for the first time! Oh, I smile simply thinking about it. My Mom came up for the weekend and of course, we spent the entire time talking about the baby and shopping for the baby! I am pleased to announce that we now own a Graco Travel System in the Mocha design, thanks to my Mom. :) My first baby shower is coming up this week and I can't wait! A dear friend of mine, Stephanie, is hosting this gathering of women from past and present home groups. I'm so looking forward to being with "the girls". An amazing thing happens when Christian women come together. I have been so blessed to be surronded by women who love and support me with their friendship and advice. This is a very special time.

Sara
